Yoel Sheridan was born and schooled in London, England. He is an FCA (Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), and a CPA (Israel). He worked in England as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Airfix Industries. In 1973 he came to live in Israel and worked as a Management and Financial Consultant, doing business evaluations, creating business plans and introducing computerized accounting methods to enable the monitoring of current costs, sales and profitability for a wide range of industries. He wrote the booklet ‘Business in Israel’ for the first Jerusalem Economic Conference (1984) that was followed by many ‘Doing Business in Israel’ books. 
Since his retirement in 2000 he has written two books on Jewish history: “From Here to Obscurity” that dealt with the vibrant Yiddish-speaking Jewish community of the East End of London in the Hitler years 1933 to 1945; and “Gold Ducats and Devilry Afoot”, an Historical Narrative of the Trials and Tribulations of a Polish Jew in Mid-eighteenth Century England” (2012).
As a youth, Yoel was active in the Brady Boys Club and today also volunteers to assist Ethiopian and other youth and adults to cope with the intricacies of the English language.
