Shalom Brenner, originally from a farm in Upington, South Africa, came to live in Israel in 1962. He completed his Accountancy studies at Haifa University in 1972.
He was a member of Kibbutz Yisrael and later marketed real estate and did flower farming. In 1959 Shalom did a course for youth leaders from abroad in Jerusalem.

Today he is retired. He has set up on a volunteer basis an aquaponic project at a school in Jerusalem for endangered youth.
