Joe Goldberg

Joe Goldberg ... an asset to ESRA

BORN in Melbourne, Joe Goldberg made aliyah with his wife Chana and three children in 1972. Joe was very proud of his family. He would often say that he was very lucky and blessed to have such a lovely family.

Joe retired from dentistry in 1989 and was involved in ESRA since its inception, previously with the distribution of magazines.

For 11 years Joe was a permanent volunteer in the ESRA Gan Rashal office doing "computer work" (his words). He was in the office from 5.30 am volunteering in the accounts department, issuing membership cards and helping with magazine distribution. He worked independently and stayed until his work was complete, and even took work home, spending hours filling envelopes.

Joe received an Outstanding Volunteer Award from ESRA in 2014 and on his certificate it read: "For your outstanding ongoing dedicated work in the Gan Rashal office, where no task is too large or too small for you".

Joe was very much a part of the ESRA Gan Rashal office as a friend and volunteer. He was always willing to do anything he was asked to do and go over and above in his duties. We were so fortunate to have Joe volunteer – he was an asset to the ESRA office.

He will be sorely missed by all the staff at the ESRA office.
May he rest in peace
